Your race plan on a watch

Course navigation and pace targets are different files. Check what your watch supports and try your chosen workflow before race day.

Pace targets: FIT workout

Open your saved strategy and download “Pace workout (.fit)”. This file contains distance-based steps and pace windows calculated from your split table. It is a structured workout, not a PacePro plan or a recorded activity.

For Garmin models supporting USB file transfer and running workouts: connect the watch to a computer, copy the FIT file into the watch’s GARMIN/NewFiles folder, then safely disconnect. Look for the workout under Run → Training → Workouts; menu names vary by model. Follow your watch manual if its transfer method differs.

File integrity and pace targets are checked with Garmin’s official FIT SDK. Hardware compatibility has not been certified across watch models. Open the workout on your watch and check the distance and targets before relying on it.

Do not upload this workout through Garmin Connect’s “Import activity” screen. Automatic Garmin/Coros account syncing is not included.

Course navigation: GPX

If a route is available, download “Course map (.gpx)”. Import it as a course in your watch’s app, then send it to a compatible watch. This provides route geometry; it does not contain your pace-target workout.

Any watch or no watch: offline race pack

Download the race pack from your strategy page. It includes every split, your fuel timeline and dated weather snapshot. Open the saved HTML file without internet, or print it to PDF. No account access is needed to open the downloaded file.

The optional TCX download is for software that explicitly supports TCX Workout documents. Support for TCX activities or courses alone is not sufficient.
